SERIES CONCEPT & BACKGROUND
In 1806, an aging Maori Warrior Chief - named Te Taniwha, because he could allegedly shape-shift - was kidnapped and brought aboard the mutinied ship ‘Venus’, which was full of high-born Maori, mostly young women and girls, kidnapped from various Northland tribes, all destined to be sold off as sex- slaves, or simply as slaves. He escaped by leaping over-board. As he leapt, he turned himself into an enormous white pointer, cursing every man aboard the ship and their descendants.
OUR STORY
Following the tumultuous years after World War One, Te Taniwha’s curse is awakened again, this time wreaking havoc on a shore-whaling station on a remote New Zealand coast. Our three main characters have returned to the community of their childhood for separate reasons, unaware their combined presence in this one place will re-awakened the curse, putting in motion powerful chains of events.
